I had to dumb down the controls 50% when I was testing it.

I just set some curves of 20 all round and saturation of 80% it seems a little more stable going to be a nice airframe when mastered

Was thinking, clockwise turning rotor, so a little bit of right aft cyclic, a bit of right pedal.... HOLY SHIT..what the hell just happened to me?? It went upside down faster than I could think of it. Still stuggling on, no curves for me. Will get there eventually Very Happy

For folks with the warthog I recommend a saturations of 70% in x and y axis. Any other bugs you find, just let me know and Ill pass them on.

That 70% worked for me. Once you stop expecting it to fly like a helicopter it is alot of fun. I

I didn't modify my Worthog at all and it took a lot of work to fly the beast but once I got used to all the work it took to keep the greasy side down, it wasn't too bad. It reminds me of the TH-55's (Hughes 300's) that I learned to fly in flight school.

I've gone 60% and I still think it's too sensitive there, although I do have a 9 inch extention to my cyclic... I don't know how much the SAS has to do with it, I never had it, but I had to use the pedals a lot more IRL then I do with this module. I dumped the collective on an earlier flight from a 1000ft hover, descended at way over 500ft / minute and just pulled the collective in without any forward airspeed and recovered without any heavy pedal inputs required.

The pendulum effect when banking in normal flight is also way over exaggerated too IIRC...

I posted these over at ED:

1. A couple of times I've started up and the instrument panel is shaking slightly as soon as I turn the battery on
2. Engine starter doesn't always start after waiting for run up, sometimes requires 2 clicks
3. Cyclic inputs have no effect on the ground resulting in uncontrollable movement when light on the skids
4. Doesn't seem to generate any or much in ground effect?
5. Controls are way too sensitive
6. Gentle run on landings on anything other than a runway at low speed such as 20kmph, 50 ft/min descent = death

Does seem so Shocked , getting better at controlling the beast. As discussed on teamspeak today there seems to be absolutely no audio ques to the different flight regimes. After coming from the huey sound mods to this I have no idea whats going on...

3 And 6. From what I understand it has something to do with how DCS handle 3rd party modules. Its a known issue which hopefully can be fixed.

Will be working on how the Rotor RPM responds in autos or when dumping the collective for a vertical descend. Atm the clutch doesnt seem to disengage and inflow has no effect on RPM.

There is a difference with tq required for IGE and OGE, im not familiar with how much cushion effect you would notice when coming in IGE. Im assuming youre missing that effect atm?

Rest of the stuff noted. Thanks.

Some images for thought / dreaming..

Sling load

Mini Gun

Sniper.... Note the supporting arm (giro?) clamped to the front of the forestock in the 2nd image - stabiliser ?  That would explain the sniper role a lot... you would still need a steady hover Smile
Not sure of the attachment to the barrel - doesn't appear to be a muzzle break... certainly not a silencer LOL

One of the things that has impressed me the most (as a point of difference to other modules) is the navigation system on the Gazelle as demonstrated by Six on weekend.

I am curious see how the Gazelle would do in an artillery spotting role, supporting someone controlling artillery with the Combined Arms module. You know, Gazelle finds the enemy, feeds coordinates to the ground commander and then gets to watch the fireworks. Very Happy

Autopilot.

Couldn't get my head round the Speed & Altitude AP aspects until I realised that any mapping of these needs to be a 2 way, ON/OFF switch not a toggle.

Even in game they are a spring loaded switch and engagement with the mouse seems random..

Trim the craft at desired speed / altitude then engage the switch leaving it on, operation then as per manual.  White text confirmation will appear in the control indicator viewport.... Now I can go somewhere and start preparing the equipment, maps etc without crashing LOL...

Also the altitude hold may be useful for slowing down in preparation for autohover..

May be of help to someone...

I'm not noticing any difference. I did a slow descent to the ground at 20kts with a 100ft / minute descent rate from 500ft and let it run all the way into the ground without noticing any real difference in the descent rate at all until I was a crispy critter laying upside down in the crashed chicken leg...

Just made an interesting discovery for the Gazelle. Instead of toying with saturation and curves for the cyclic, try to curve only the collective and leave the cyclic and pedal axis all default. It greatly improves stability without sacrificing agility. She is still nimble as hell but it is more manageable now.

Edit: I use a homemade floormounted cyclic with hall sensors and HOTAS Cougar software

OK...I've been itching for this one like a Khardashian looking to do another sex-tape.

My question.

Should a bloke go ahead and pick it up, or would all the "rough edges" end up being a turn-off? Would you guys suggest waiting until the first (or second) update to smooth out such edges?

(sometimes being a beta tester makes me less than happy)

Thoughts?

(thanks in advance)

It was day one purchase for me and I don't regret it at all. Sure the flight model will probably need tweaked and bugs are being noted on the ED forums but no real fun killers. The missiles work well the camera is a real step up on the A10 or KA50 ones IMO so go get it Mr Ball Very Happy

PS it will probably take till its full release to learn to fly so sooner you start learning the better lol!
