CPU Water Cooler just died

Post by (D/229) Guinness on Mon 27 Jun 2016 - 9:41

Well gents, my CPU water cooler just died and have to wait till I can get a new Water Cooler before I can fly again. Hoping it won't be too long.

I got the xspc d5 vario highly recommended. It's an anxious time when the water pump goes but my advice is use time wisely and flush out the system while you have the opportunity. I also replaced all my tubing and replaced radiator fans while I had it to bits

One of these days Im going to get back into water cooling. I just got an MSI Z170A M9 ACK motherboard and paired it with a 6700k...overclocked it to 4.6ghz stable (!) and it doesnt even top out above 60c in prime95, so might just stay with what I already have for a while longer. Closed loop systems maybe lacking for the most part, but they are adequate enough for some jobs. My next project if I ever decide to do it is to build me a liquid cooling system that is refrigerated...inside a small fridge containing all of the beer and ice cream sitting next to my pit.

Mine is a closed loop water cooler, not on-board. Had it for about 2 years now... Lasted longer than I thought.

What brand did you have? This is the one I use...

Be forwarned - if you decide to even think about getting this, pay very close attention to its quality. Ive had to RMA 3 of these before I finally got a decent one. The first one leaked, the second one the radiator was warped, and the last one had air bubbles in the sight glass. I kept all of the fans though, and I have 8 of them in the case...6 of them on the radiator. When I finally got a good one, I was amazed at how well it performed. I got this new 6700k overclocked at 4.6ghz stress tested on Prime95 and it barely went over 65c. Ive had it for little over a year now without any problems.
