Skillz in the real world

Post by (B/229) evilivan on Sat 23 Jul 2016 - 1:10

This Monday me and a friend are going to try an experiment and see if any of our SIM flying "skillz" translate to the real world. We wanted to do this in a Bell 206, but it was expensive and quite a long drive away (if we can find one closer, we might do it next time), so it will be a Cabri G2. We have asked to spend all the time on the difficult stuff: hovering, and maybe transitioning through translational lift.

Obviously the Cabri will feel nothing like the Huey (any one on here flown a Cabri?). Still, should be lots of fun :-)

Will let you know how it went...

The short answer is: yes, DCS skills translate to the real world - we were able to hover, hover taxi, and fly a circuit. Aircraft was a Cabri G2. I think we were particularly lucky with our IP, in that he was totally up for the idea and just let us try it.

Very, very chuffed right now Laughing

Will get round to posting some kind of evidence at some point. And my life might be getting quite expensive soon......
