Hi... just for other peoples information...
I installed a few of earlier versions of SR and managed to use it without any problem after being shown how to install and setup and then getting the hang of it.  However, Ver 1.2.8.1 seems to want a .NET Framework update to my PC... unfortunately my (ok, old) Vista 64bit OS refused to install this as it is not compatible with the OS, so that appears to be the end of the road with SR for moi until I update my system...  I think the guy who is developing SR needs to get a stable version working before he releases it.  It seems every time I started SR to fly with DCS another update was required.

Blimey, you could spend more time wrestling software to the ground than flying... LOL

Edit: Oh, I was late home Thursday night... but went on the server about midnight with about half a dozen other guys (mostly state-side) and everyone seemed to be using TS anyway... I did'nt ask, but are other people having trouble with SR...?

Dabomb was having difficulties earlier in the evening so we switched to TS.
RE the .net framework yes its a PITA to instal and caused me to have to do a fresh windows instal.
Vista is the worst OS since ME. Really do your self a favour and ditch it ASAP. Your machine will work much better with W7 or even XP but thats a retrograde step with no microsoft support anymore. Get 10 even its free AFAIK

...I think you are wrong at all. It is simply not the case that the SR versions are not stable. He is just improving it and adding, tweaking features constantly. And I think that is just amazing, also how fast he implements new stuff. So that is really no point to complain about at all, it is something everybody should be very happy about.
Really Jammer, update your system and do not complain about people who spend such amazing and for 99% of the users flawlessly working add-ons to the DCS community FOR FREE.

All your points taken Painter... I am not trying to denigrate the developers efforts, and perhaps my wording was a bit harsh, did'nt mean to be.  I really do appreciate everyone's efforts to improve the immersion factor with DCS... I am nearly seventy now and I find it increasingly difficult to keep abreast of all this stuff.  The last PC flight-sim rig I built was six or seven years ago using M$ Vista 64bit... if I had waited a while longer I could have installed the then new Windows 7, a much better memory managing OS.  I am looking at building a new PC soon (if I can remember how) or possibly buy a reasonably good used PC (anyone in the UK DCS community selling one ;-) )

My current system... one of the early quad core CPU's, the GFX card saves it's arse though... LOL. Vista 64 OS with all unnecessary crud removed.
Asus P5Q MB, Intel Q6600 CPU (OC 3.4Mhz), 500Gb SSD, 8Gb DDR2 (800Mhz), HD7950 3Gb DDR5, 750W PSU, 27" main monitor, 19" side monitor, Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Combat Pro pedals, ITrackR5

I do appreciate that all this gear is getting very long in the tooth by current day standards... but still manages to run DCS at 30-60 FPS with Wags GFX settings

Does anyone know if I could do an upgrade to Win7 or Win10 or would it mean a complete new install?

Roger Jammer.
Just in case you do build or buy a new PC: Go for a very good video card and think about the Oculus Rift Smile

Be adviced - there is some serious fps-hit in regard to simpleradio and I can confirm that the solution provided just DOUBLES my fps from around 90 to 184 in the DCS lobby screen what results in stable 45 fps with auto-ASW enabled in the Oculus in the cockpit.

First of all, thank you for this awesome piece of code!
I installed it yesterday, and it works well, but i am experiencing FPS issues since the installation.

I have quite decent computer, and running at moderate graphics settings : The M2000 free flight mission, gave me before installation of SRS :
Vsync OFF : 140 fps / Vsync ON : Rock steady 60 fps

After the installation :
Vsync OFF : alternating between 64 - 65 fps / Vsync ON : 60 fps with frequent drops to 55fps.

This occurs even is the SRS client and/or server is not running.

Turning down the graphics settings does not change this limitation to 64-65 fps.

I found that if I rename the folder %USERPROFILE%/Saved Game/Scripts, the problem go away. Since I am not using any other scripts than SRS, I believe that SRS is the source of the problem.

I found that replacing in the DCS-SimpleRadioStandalon.lua line 64 :
SR.UDPLosReceiveSocket:settimeout(.0001)
by
SR.UDPLosReceiveSocket:settimeout(0)
the problem go away, and SRS seems to remain functional (had a quick test in multiplayer on the M2000, but need more testing though)

Do you think this change can have any undesirable side-effects (I am not familiar with UDP programming)?
Am I the only one with this issue?

Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance!

Thanks for the SR update Painter. As you know I had Frame Network problems with 1.2.8.0 (1) because of my old Vista OS. However, I did use 1.2.6.0 and it seemed to work OK for me... and I must say I was quite impressed with it. It opened up the whole DCS radio usage in quite a unique way. Also, I can't say I ever noticed any impact on my FPS with SR 1.2.6.0 while running DCS... and my antiquated PC would would have fallen over straight away if their had been. I would be happy to go back to 1.2.6.0 if that worked for us all. Please keep us posted on any further developments... thanks Painter. ^

Just tried to cross-check. It needs some more testing - for some reason I am not able to re-confirm the fps gain. I do not know what I am doing wrong that I am not able to reproduce the double fps rate.
