Transitioning from Rift to TrackIr

Post by (A/229) Utley on Thu 9 Feb 2017 - 11:29

And its been a clusterfock to say the least. Aerial gunnery sucks for me now in the Huey, does anyone have any decent TrackIR4 profiles that I can use that are as close to 1:1 as possible? Im really enjoying coming back to trackir, but man...aiming the guns just suck.

try Gerry Abbott Utley... It's TrackIR 5 but should be pretty close to TrackIR 4

I feel TRIR settings relate much to monitor size, viewing distance and personal preference for good flying but here's my graph for a 50" UHD with a eye to screen distance of about 40".  It works well for me...

YAW

PITCH
As for guns, for me, accuracy is always best achieved manual flying using the large modded sight with no distance adjustment and known offsets for various ranges.

If I use the left seat for running fire (manual flying not AP) TRIR works fine with slight to moderate angles from bore, as it does in hovering fire but but both fire modes I use for area suppression rather than accurate target specific.

For manual control of side gunners I use AP engaged in a 20-30 degree banked wheel and then the mouse is the only control that works half reasonably.

If you want the profile, (TRIR5) I can send it ...

Coming back? why would you ever leave the lovely rift in the first place Smile

I personally prefer the detail of my 4k monitor without the rift but the immersion just isnt the same using TIR IMHO.

Roll on when they get the 2k version of the rift of the shelves or even the 4k version

Cheers

Glasses always in the way, contacts always dry, takes forever to get my cockpit ready, and I simply needed the money for physical therapy. Honestly kinda glad Im going back to trackir, I can actually see things again in detail. That and its nice to be looking at 60+fps with no stuttering...

For me after a few cocktails I would get stuttering with the TRIR...I don't seem to notice it in the Rift. What a Face
