6V6 Grudge Match

Post by (A/229) Showtime817 on Fri 17 Feb 2017 - 15:47

I'm sure you haven't notice my MIA lately or maybe you have but, I have been trying for the last two weeks to qualify in the top 12 flying the Spit for a WWII 6V6 109 and 190 ver P-51 and Spits Grudge Match.  Well guess what!  Somehow someway I pulled it off after a lot of tears and sweat yanking, banking and flying upside down, well that's what it feels like in the Rift anyway.Very Happy

I thought maybe some of you might be interested so I thought I would share...The winning team will receive a brand spanking new copy of the Normandy map, not $10,000 dollars as some may have you to believe but that would be nice and would probably shut my wife up for a few day's Very Happy

On this Saturday @ 1900 Zulu you can watch it live on Twitch with a announcer calling the play by play action.  Here's the link for more details about the grudge match.

You have the other aircraft painted hot pink so you can see them in the rift? That was the one thing I really hated in that thing, can never tell who is who in a dogfight. Meh, someday.......remember altitude is life, and the pointy end goes forward - usually..

WAY TO GO SHOW!!!

That is really cool my brutha. I will say that of all the WWII machines, the Spit is (by far) my favorite...although I probably only have an hour or so in her. I have a few days off now, so I hope to log more time in that beautiful machine. If I get the chance, I'll log on and watch you pass out a "good ol' fashion Texas butt whoopin" on those poor bastards! Give 'em hell!

cheers cheers cheers

I watched the whole thing.  Not sure about the scoring -- the final score seemed arbitrary to me.  I could have sworn the RAF was dominating for the the first 60 minutes.  Can't they look at the logs and determine kills?  The way I saw it, the Luftwaffe came on strong at the end, but too little too late.

Got to watch for about :30 before "real life" kicked in and off I went. WAY COOL! Looked like a huge amount of fun! I have only one REAL bitch...
...seems that whomever was in charge of spotlighting the different machines/battles, left out our beloved "Showtime" too much. Not that I wasn't interested in the other blokes, but SHOW and his Spitfire mistress were the reason I tuned in to watch.
Just saying....
Still fun to watch.

"WAY TO GO SHOWTIME!!!!"

A fellow Texan in a Spit giving 'em hell! (damned near had me teared up Smile

Wait...what...you mean I wasn't the star of the show....They told me I was going to be the star of the show dammit.

Thank guys for the support and watch the match.

That was the most intense flying I have done in a long time, there was so much going on in my head and lots of radio chatter at the same time, also you don't want to be that guy that screws it up for the team, man the pressure was so intense. Don't get me wrong, that was a lot of fun and would do it aging in heartbeat...speaking of heartbeats, it felt like my heart was going pound of my chest.

@dabomb....great observation Sir. We also felt that way after that first push to kill all their ground targets at the beginning to put them on the defense because they would be 18 points down. We felt that we had control of the match and was leading, at that point all we had to do was to keep pressure on them and run out the clock. When the game master said over the radio 40 min left we were like ok we got this...You guys know as well as I do that you can spend 3 hr of flying and you could have swore it was only 15 min have passed by. That was the longest 40 min I have ever flew in sim. At the end the Reds did come on strong and blue team start to break down.

The game masters will be looking at the logs to give official win to winning team in the next few days.

Thanks guy,

S!
