Just got this!

"The Chopper Boys: Helicopter Warfare in Africa"
Al J. Venter
Helion and Company; Revised and Expanded ed. edition (September 16, 2016)

https://www.amazon.com/Chopper-Boys-Helicopter-Warfare-Africa/dp/1909982687

Really nice stuff! LOTS and LOTS of photographs, with the narrative covering historical context, operational details, and personal anecdotes. Covers an region/context of helicopter operations rarely touched, and yet where helicopters played a major --- and sometimes even dominant --- role. First chapter covers the recent Mali COIN, with lots of photos of Gazelles (among others) in action. Remainder are more historic. The Gazelle's predecessor, the Alouette III, is definitely the iconic a/c of this region.

[Note there is an older edition without the expanded chapters, and it has many fewer photographs]
