Getting back in the saddle - ideas needed

Looks like Ill be staying here in Michigan for a little while. Meantime, my flight sim stuff is in georgia, but going to relocate at least most of my computer hardware here. I dont have much in the way of cockpit stuff now since my heart attack anymore, and my back is still messed up from the motorcycle wreck. Im looking for something modular; something I can build while I wait on my stuff to arrive. Not sure how thats going to work, but my warthog, my crosswinds, MFDs and all my other peripherals are down south too.

Would it be better to get new stuff instead? I kinda like the new VKB sticks, but dont want to lose my warthog. Are there any good pit solutions I can use? Who has built their own pits that doesnt require a trip to Home Depot (important because the nearest one nearby is a 2 hour drive)? is VR any better than when the Rift CV1 came out? Ive been in the sticks for a while and Im out of touch with the latest stuff at the moment.

Decent video cards? Whats the latest CPU/chipset I need? (Z370/Coffee Lake?) How well is this stuff working with 2.5 out now? Also cant help but realize that 15 years ago, Flanker 2.5 was a thing......where it all started for this newb. Thinking ts just a coincidence...

Keep the old controllers and put your money towards the beefiest CPU/GPU/RAM you can muster. You'll need it to fully realize 2.5.

Get a good computer and a vr setup plus at least a tm warthog to keep in touch with.

Them motorcycles will do you. In almost lost a leg in 2012 dad did in the 70’scouse lost a lot more in the mid 80’s.

I used a var setup and built around it, I got a puma from pft for Xmas and bday while back east for the holidays got a folding card chair until I got home and decided on a speedmaster flight since the front end was removable. Also splurge on some vkb rudder pedals.that should set you back a few grand if you have to by all new. Hopefully you have it and can have it shipped vr+ VoiceAttack and the hotas with a trackball and keyboard should be all you need to partake and enjoy.

I have crosswinds pedals, not too sure Ill deviate away from them.

Little update: Im heading back to atlanta for my things in the next few weeks, and Im starting to rebuild my gaming rig. I need some ideas for a cockpit now if anyone has anything...anything but an Obutto. The one I had wasnt really comfortable even before my motorcycle accident, and I might just try to build something from scratch.

Good news is that I work sheet metal at Kalitta now, so I might be able to use some of our tools at work to do some prefab stuff. The bad news is that Im not even sure if I can find some stock to use...live out in the middle of the sticks up here on Wurtsmith AFB and the nearest Home Depot is a good hour drive away.
