Got a Little Stick Time Today

Post by (A/229) Comanchero86 on Sat 9 Jun 2018 - 9:49

Got to fly some traffic patterns and hover this afternoon. . Did pretty good with coaching. But, just like in the sim, I had problems at the bottom of approaches. Mostly due to overcontrolling the collective. What seemed to me to be little movement was actually causing problems with an a smooth decent at the bottom. After being told again and again to "think" your input,  and not consciously push or pull, I started to get it and I was able to terminate to a hover. Not pretty, however, no one would have died.
Also did a couple landings from hover which I think the sim was very helpful in preparing for the real thing.

So I'm going to fire up the sim and compare it with real life while it's still fresh in my mind. Plus take the lesson I learned today about the collective and see if my approaches get any better.

I think to give a fair comparison of DCS to the real deal you should allow me to try also. You know the whole difference of opinion thingy. lol

We are always looking for new members Skeeter. Build up a little sweat equity at the Hangar and you never know, a little stick time could come your way someday.

(BTW, I've been working my ass off on our Huey this last couple of weeks)
