I want a wife turn up/down switch. Does that come standard with the throttle quadrant? Must have cost you a fortune.........

Hey Strut,

Looking good, I can't believe you got the Saitek Throttle Quadrant so quick. Will be interested to see it finished.

The "wife switch" doesnt work, i rang and asked about warranty, all they said was that they would sent me another wife ----- i refused and hung up.

LOL  @ Strut & LiveBait.... !

Anyway, I just finished my Collective... ( needs cleaning and  a paint job)
I borrowed Highway's setup.. then I pondered for a day or two  and came up with this.  Total price   $ 0.oo   cheers

1"-- thin walled Aluminum tubing (from a boat cover support)
Foam grip --from broken rake handle
Epoxy Putty-- used to attach handle to X52  "QuickSteel" (Brand name)  used from previous projects
Hardware-- (drawer full of Aviation related "stuff"
3/4" wood  box--  I had an old (100 years +) broken Dinning table that spilt.. figured it was a good time to "reuse it" again.
3/8" plywood-- came from previous project--- Attached/Bolted it to my chair.

Although you can't see it..... the 15° angle ( back to front) is perfect

Presently I have the "floor" of the box slid forward... ( adjustment's if needed)

Cyclic.....  final cost--  just under $50.oo (USD)

Followed Hitman's Idea &  came up with this:

1- 25#  weight  ( very easy to drill into-- see below)
2- Plumbing flanges
1 - 1"x 18"    Black Schedule 40 Pipe
1 -  1" x 2 1/2" Nipple  (used as extension & Changeable in the future.. if needed)
1 -  1" FPT x FPT union (used as extension)
4 - 1/4" x 3/4" Bolts-- Attach  flange to weight base-- I drilled & Tapped the holes   (#7 drill--- 1/4 x20 Tap)
Total height of Cyclic stand (from floor to bottom of Warthog base) 24" ( 61 cm)

Love your mod i think the X52 Collective would be superior to mine, it looks substantial and would feel "solid" im guessing. The cyclic stand is a great idea as well. Nicely done Hawk.

Perfect....No head.
Should be trouble free for many years.
Though apparently suffers droop eventually.

cheers Collective version 2  cheers

Used: 2 x 4cm Flathead Hex bolts with lock-nuts
         1 x Epoxy Putty
1 x 500mm x 1 1/4 inch diameter PVC Hard Poly Riser - for sprinklers for irrigation. With End caps. Riser is threaded at both ends and weighs very lightly.
1 x 44 Magnum in case of failure.

My aim for my end product is to use the threaded end and end cap to attach a "Project box " that will be approximately similar size to a collective head. But next step is to get a proper mount for the collective at a good angle. I have taken it for a spin and can hover almost effortlessly at 5 ft. 10 ft and 20 ft, just need to play around with the axis settings. In my opinion using the PVC Hard Poly is better than using that light aluminum i had initially, its almost no weight at all on the throttle and has a nice thickness to handle as well (no ribald comments please, lets be serious  No ).

Congrats  Strut  !

Looking like the .44 can be put away.... or at least put a blank in one cylinder.

Hegyc is getting closer with his project as well. Ive been following him for a long time now, ever since he's started to talk about making the joysticks and controller gear and looks like he's nearly at the stage , im hoping he makes that collective head, it will screw right into my collective no worries.

I know its an old picture but he's closer to fully making some of these soon.

Newie Huey pilot here; your all certifiable you know... looks like I found the right place LOL.

I already have a 120mm (with 220 possible) tube ext. on my TM Warthog... some interesting ideas on the collective. I shall be breaking my tool kit and soldering iron out Smile. Like Highwayman... my cockpit doubles as a sim race car and a Huey cockpit. I will post some pics when I get time... better go to bed, its 3:40am \O/

As requested by Hawkeye, here are a couple of shots of how I've raised the height of my driving / flying frame onto wheels to make space for my pedals under the frame and make it mobile.
